Full day tour “Discover the Moai”

Pick up time: 09:30 am  

Duration: 6 to 7 hrs.

You will drive along the rugged south east coast heading directly to Rano Raraku volcano, ( we prefer to arrive early so as to avoid the tour crowds and the muggy hot weather) We will hike between the moai discovering how they were carved and moved from this magnificent volcano and finally transported to their Ahu or platfroms. Amongst these, you can observe the biggest one that was ever carved, but never moved (21 meters /60 feet) and other outstanding statues such as Tuturi, sitting on its legs. To end this visit, we will walk into the amazing crater lake covered by thick reeds and observe more statues that were also carved inside of it.

Now that you have learned more about how and where the statues were carved, it is time to continue our journey to Ahu Tongariki, the biggest restored platform on the island and Polynesia. Then, drive across Poike (the oldest volcano) to reach the north coast and see Ahu te Pito Kura, with the biggest moai ever transported and erected on its platform measuring 10 meters and also an amazing round rock, known as the “navel of the world”

You will end the tour in Anakena  beach tasting local tuna empanadas, having time to swim in its clear crystal waters and walk along two important Ahu (Nau Nau and Ature Huki)
