Cave tours: Duration 3hrs.

We will walk around the Roiho area exploring several lava tube formations. These caves were home for many Rapa Nui people in old times. It is very interesting to see how they lived and survived the ancient wars, planting what they ate in those days such as taro, sweet potatoes and also recollecting water, filtered by rocks.  We will go into a cave called Ana Te Pahu, a cave that was formed after the last volcanic eruption of Maunga Hiva Hiva, about 3000 years ago.

We will walk through this cave in complete darkness with the help of our flashlights, observing fire pits, openings on the ceilings, lichens and much more!
